Making her experience count

Kate Wright

Towards the end of her school days, Kate got fed up with learning and left with one A-level in General Studies. She took on lots of different short term jobs - these included farm labourer, chamber maid and even a stint as a mother's help.

In her early twenties Kate suddenly decided that  she wanted to go to University so she re-sat her A Levels while working. Her studies took her to Bangor, East Anglia and even to Florida and she is now qualified as a physical oceanographer with an M.Phil. After a career break spent with her young children, Kate decided to embark on the Open University Returners course and is now a Lecturer in Adult Numeracy at Warwickshire College in Rugby.

Kate is also supporting the Women in SET team with a number of projects and has become something of an expert in using ePortfolios!
