Anna Hawkins

Sustainable Communities

Anna started her working life as a pastry chef and now leads the Foundation Degree in Sustainable Communities at Sheffield Hallam University. How did she do that?!

Anna's career has taken her in many different directions, from administrator to regeneration project manager and now to lecturer. Her experience of working closely with communities in Burngreave in Sheffield showed Anna that there is a wealth of untapped and unrecognised talent in voluntary and community organisations.

The Foundation Degree which Anna delivers with support from colleagues at SHU, aims to accredit people already working in sustainable community development, and also to encourage people thinking about taking on paid or unpaid work in the sector to develop their potential.
